It’s not really about me..

Always seems a bit odd doing an an ‘about me’ page when in fact the wedding is about you. However, every website seems to have one, so here we are!

For those interested read on, if not I really won’t be offended!

About me…

I’m Mark, a Swansea based wedding photographer and I travel throughout the UK and overseas photographing weddings, events, people, wildlife and landscapes. I have been taking photographs for as long as I can remember. My father used to develop his own film and prints in cupboard under the stairs. It was incredible to watch an image appear like magic on a piece of paper. This was the start of my fascination with the challenge of recreating what the eye sees on a flat piece of paper or screen.

Wedding photography was a natural progression of my interest in photographing people. I always preferred photographing people when they were least expecting it, capturing the moment, the real person rather than a pose. That’s what I aim to do with my wedding photography, capture those brief but very real moments that bring back the emotion of the day… not just the image.

I also try to be as flexible as possible. It’s your day and the record of it shouldn’t be defined by the limitations of what your photographer is prepared to offer. If you are looking for a full day from make-up to music, from a wedding album to thank you cards, I would be very happy to chat through all your thoughts and ideas. However, if you plan to pop down the registry office for a quicky with a just few of your nearest and dearest and want something better than the pics off your friends iPhone, I do those too.. and everything in between, I can be as flexible as you need.

The equipment I use is mainly Nikon, chiefly two camera bodies, a D750 DSLR body and a Z6ii mirrorless body, with a variety of prime and telphoto lenses. The odds of two cameras failing is beyond slim (not had even one fail yet!) but I also carry a Nikon Z7ii mirrorless body, as a belt and braces reserve. Cameras are fitted with dual memory cards set to backup, so each image is recorded twice. I also have several flashguns but try to use natural light whenever possible, modern digital camera sensors are much, much better in low light than film ever was and natural light gives a much better impression of the emotion and feeling of the moment.

I live in Swansea, South Wales with my wife Alison, our Border Terrier Wilson and our daughter’s Cavapoo Luna (long story). Our 3 children are grown up flown the nest.

I travel throughout the UK and to overseas wedding destinations. Please do get in touch if you have any questions.

As well as weddings, I love photographing people in all situations, animals, wildlife, landscapes and just about anything that catches my eye. I’m rarely go anywhere without a camera.
